Prayer Request from Valerie House

Here is an email we received from Valerie. This is from a friend of hers.

David our 27 yr old son got in a motor cycle accident in Thailand, he was there training for his kickboxing.

He was wearing a helmet which saved his life!

Total of 4 broken bones in his lower arm, 2 compounded, which have been pinned into place

His femur was compounded as well above the knee. They inserted a rod into his leg and that went well.

NO head or body trauma at all showed up! Praise on that one.

His surgery was around 10-11 hours.

Now the fight is on with the insurance company to cover the costs. The hospital asked for a complete settlement before they would work on him- good thing for credit cards, otherwise he would have to go to the substandard care hospitals.

Another blessing that the cost was a fraction of what we would have to pay here in the US!  The moment the charge went thorough they wheeled him into surgery! The hospital is very modern and is located in the resort area of Phuket. They are very accommodating, loving and wonderful people there.

He will need some face reconstruction as he has a tripod fracture in his lower eye socket and some damage to his nasal cavity as well. We will have that done here in the US once he gets home.

Please pray for no infection and for pain management. He will be able to travel home to US in 5 days if all goes well.

Jason, Amy’s wonderful boyfriend and a God send, is traveling there to bring David home. A 20 hour ordeal with all the change of planes.  Pray that we can get Jason’s  birth certificate sent in time so that he can get a Pass Port in 1 day. We hope he can travel on Monday if all works out.

We have been talking with the US embassy there and they have been wonderful support to us- they have been in touch with the hospital and will look out for David while he is there.

Thanks for all your prayers and passing onto your prayer groups will be appreciated,

Kathy and Scott

Chris Martin Update - January 12, 2010

From Ray Martin. Chris Martin is Ray and Christina Martin’s son.

Chris has been stabilized and seems to be doing better.  He is still very sick however.  His Doctors say that he needs better treatment then what they can give him in the hospital he is currently in.  They are planning on transferring him to California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco on Wednesday 1/13/2010.  I am not sure what the address is, but their phone number is 415-600-2722.

It is not that he is getting worse, right now he is staying the same.  However, when they transfer him to this new hospital, he will be automatically added to the Heart Transplant list.  Not that they are expecting to do a heart transplant, but in case Chris starts doing worse, he will already be on the list and can be bumped up as necessary.

Chris Martin Update

Chris Martin (Ray and Christina’s son) continues to struggle with his health. He was taken back to the hospital, his 3rd now, on Wednesday, January 6, 2010.

Here’s what Ray has told us…

Chris is still in the hospital, was moved last night to ICU on the 3rd floor.  During the night he evidently passed out due to oxygen not getting into his system.  The hospital said that this happens sometimes with the procedure they did to the lungs.  They gave him medicine to raise his blood pressure back to normal and was on bottled oxygen.  When I called this morning, he is back on “room” oxygen and his blood pressure is back to normal.

They said that he will be moved back to IMCU and was in room 3E16 prior to the move.”

Please continue in prayer for Chris.

Prayer Request: Chris Martin

Chris Martin is the son of Ray and Christina Martin.

From Ray:

Turns out that Chris was more ill then we thought.  He has congestive heart failure.  Because his heart wasn’t pumping as it should have been, fluid was collecting from his waste down.  His kidney was starting to shut down and his liver was inlarged.  He had a little jaundice when he was admitted.

Please keep praying for him physically.  Also, financially as well.  He does not have any medical coverage and we know how expensive hospital stays are.  The hospital is trying to see if MediCAL will pick up most of the expenses.  Please pray for a financial miracle as well as a physical one.

Teen Challenge Outreach

Here is what Ginger wrote to our Worship Team:

“You all did an excellent job at Teen Challenge Saunday evening.  It was such an honor to play and pray with you all.  I was so moved as I watched our church totally bless the socks off the guys at Teen Challenge.  Very cool stuff.  Teen Challenge members are still talking about the service.  They truely were blessed.   I just got off the phone with one of the guys over there.  I guess we left a set of keys and a little fan.  If these items are yours, please let me know so we can make arrangements to get them to you.   A big thanks to Daniel Bernal.  Way to be used of God.  And a big thanks to Nancy for asking if she could be a part of this ministry and then singing her heart out for about two hours.  What an awesome example - when you make yourself available - God will use you.  You are the best.”

From Josh and Evie re: Youth Camp

Central Family!

We have been having a GREAT time here at camp! We got to our campground in the early afternoon yesterday with only getting lost one time (a miracle in itself)! The campground is beautiful (you can see where we are staying here) and the weather is mild. Already we’ve had two amazing services that has struck a cord within our group— God is doing great things! Students are worshiping, responding, and taking the next step in their relationship with God. Amen!

Thank you for your continued prayers and love throughout the week!

God be with you,
Josh and the CSM crew.
